You might have seen on Instagram (@LisforLois) I recently had a new training session and dinner with Nike marking the beginning of a new season training towards the Nike Women 10k run (formerly known as the We Own The Night run).
We met in front of the Nike Mitte store boarded a bus and took a quick field trip to the surprise location: the breathtaking Olympia Stadium at night. And we had the whole complex to ourselves. Wow! We got dressed in the Home locker room. Dressed in our uniform head to toe in Nike (literally), we warmed up and took the 4,5 km upon us. We ran.
A route I’ve known well as a kid. And a place I haven’t been back long since I graduated from my elementary school. Around my school, to the Olympia Stadium and back to school. For PE classes and my bicycle license. Of course back then we had our little shortcuts. Kids 🙂
But this time we ran a much further distance, 4,5k to be exact and finished with a fun session of workouts in form of team challenges. Uff! Although I was completely exhausted from the run my team (Desi, Nisi, Lisa and Sarah) still managed to finish second place.
But my true partner in crime was Styleshiver. While we lost the group because our pace was way too slow, we ran and we ran until we reached the inside of the stadium. But that’s the thing, you can run at your pace. The Nike 10k run is not about finishing first, it’s about you, your goal and having a good time.
After the sports we hit the shower rooms and headed to the VIP Lounge of the Olympia Stadium for a well deserved 3 course dinner with the Nike Team and the girls.
After all this, the hardship of every step to the point of personal exhaustion, I felt my breaths getting deeper. My lungs sudden ability fill more space with fresh air.
With my asthma all I need is more sessions like these to strengthen and widen my lung capacity. Every sport session is the same: At first it always feels hard, but at the end of it I always feel how worth it was. Longer, deeper breaths. And it’s almost immediate too.
This year I really want to tackle the 10k run.
For me, for my asthma, for my lungs.
